Job Description

Coffeyville Regional Medical Center, or "CRMC", is a 25-bed, non-profit, critical access hospital serving Southeast Kansas and Northeast Oklahoma since 1949. As a rural hospital, CRMC is surprising because of its large size and wide variety of services. Although we can provide many of the same services you will find in a big city, we take great pride in our friendly and caring staff.

The Patient Registration Clerk registers and pre-registers patients for hospital and clinic services. S/he obtains demographic, financial, pre-certification or authorization information.

*** This position is 2nd Shift from 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm Monday - Friday. ***

JOB DUTIES:

• Provide prompt and accurate service to promote high standards and quality
• Collect deductibles, co-insurance and non-covered charges as outlined by policy
• Answer incoming calls and visits regarding patient accounts; explains financial policies to patients
• Research account issues; correct and/or initiate correction of errors
• Initiate outgoing telephone contact with patients for payments and payment arrangements
• Assist registration and medical records as necessary
• Prepare standard registration/admission forms for patients or transfer related tasks
• Maintain confidentiality of all information according to HIPAA and company policy

The Patient Registration Clerk assumes other responsibilities as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Analytical ability to apply criteria and evaluate information to make decisions
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; and excellent interpersonal skills in teaming with patients, medical staff and the public
• Detail oriented with proven ability to multitask
• Computer skills including MSOffice, Outlook, Meditech, preferred

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• H.S. Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent work experience in field, required
• 1 year experience in medical scheduling or medical office, preferred
