Crop Insurance Specialist Location Hybrid remote in Dover, DE :

Overview Horizon Farm Credit is actively seeking a Crop Insurance Specialist to join our Crop Insurance team. Qualified candidate may work in the Dover, DE, Denton, MD, Georgetown, DE, and Salisbury, MD branch location. This position is eligible for hybrid work schedule. Our ideal candidate is an organized, detail-oriented, and analytical individual with an enthusiasm to support the agricultural community. The hours of operations are typically, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Position Description: In this position, you will act as an agent for servicing and retention of crop insurance policies in an established portfolio. Provide quality, professional service to meet and/or exceed customer expectations. Maintain insurance product knowledge and expertise and enhance Horizon's image and reputation. Promote related services, actively participate in product referrals, business development and public relations activities, and maintain a favorable Farm Credit image. Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to: Responsible for the servicing of assigned crop insurance policies, which includes policy changes, collecting production history, acreage reporting, collection of outstanding premiums and reporting loss claims for policy holders. Completes administrative tasks associated with insurance policies in a timely and accurate manner to ensure customer satisfaction. Provides administrative support to a team of Crop Insurance Agents. Ensure timely submission of insurance documents and maintenance of insurance policy files. Complete the processing of insurance documents such as acreage reports, quotes, production reports and schedules of insurance, etc. Utilize insurance website reports, resources, and processes to assure complete and accurate reporting and to assure reporting deadlines are met to protect coverage. Utilize multiple insurance company and government websites to obtain general information and to monitor progress regarding specific policies and to assist customers in making risk management decisions. Facilitate problem resolution to customer's satisfaction, which may include involving other members of the Crop Insurance Department. Insurance portfolio responsibilities include collection and monitoring of delinquent insurance premiums. Works with appropriate members of the Crop Insurance Department in determining the proper approach to resolve accounts with delinquent premiums. Education: Education and/or experience equivalent to an Associate's Degree in Accounting, Business, Agriculture, Finance, or related field. Experience: Generally, minimal to two years in product agriculture (crop) related field. Skills: Proficient interpersonal relations and communication skills. Acquire skills needed to gather the customer information needed to facilitate submission of required documentation for crop insurance products. Basic knowledge of products related to crop insurance with ability to clearly & accurately share with customers is a plus. Basic analytical skills sufficient to analyze and recommend sound crop insurance coverage options. Agricultural background and/or sufficient knowledge of agricultural and horticultural production technology is preferred. Adaptable and flexible to a changing work environment. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to managing multiple priorities effectively and efficiently with a high degree of accuracy to meet tight deadlines. Ability to work well in a team atmosphere. Ability to initiate, organize and prioritize work required. Ability to travel to/from other branch offices, as deemed necessary. Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer. Regular, predictable, and reliable attendance is required. Required Training: Ability to obtain a Property & Casualty insurance license in state of residence within 90 days of hire date. Who are we?
