About Us

The General Francis Marion Hotel is a historic boutique hotel located in downtown Marion, Virginia. Built in 1927 and beautifully restored, our 36-room property offers modern comfort with classic charm. Situated in the Blue Ridge Mountains, we are within walking distance of local shops, dining, and entertainment, and just minutes from Hungry Mother State Park.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dependable and flexible team member to work part-time as a Housekeeper and also serve as a Guest Services Agent on 2nd shift as needed. This position averages 18 to 30 hours per week (3–4 days per week) depending on business needs. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently while also interacting with guests in a professional, friendly manner.

Key Responsibilities:

Housekeeping Duties (9:00 AM – 3:00 PM)

  • Clean and prepare guest rooms and common areas according to hotel standards.
  • Replace linens, restock supplies, and maintain cleanliness of assigned areas.
  • Wash, dry, fold, and organize hotel linens and laundry.
  • Ensure laundry room and equipment are kept clean and in good working order.
  • Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to management promptly.
  • Ensure guest rooms meet quality and cleanliness expectations.

Guest Services Duties (2nd Shift Coverage, 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM)

  • Greet and assist guests with check-in, check-out, and reservation needs.
  • Answer phones, respond to guest inquiries, and provide local information.
  • Handle guest concerns and communicate issues to management as needed.
  • Process payments and maintain accurate records in the property management system.
  • Ensure lobby and front desk areas remain clean and welcoming.

Schedule:

  • Part-time, 18–30 hours per week.
  • 3–4 days per week based on staffing needs.
  • Housekeeping shifts typically run 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM .
  • Guest Services coverage typically runs 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM .
  • Weekend availability is required.
  • Flexible availability is essential to cover both roles as scheduled.

Qualifications:

  • Previous housekeeping, laundry, and/or customer service experience preferred, but not required (training provided).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Friendly and professional communication with guests and team members.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 25 lbs, and perform physical cleaning and laundry duties.
  • Must be available to work weekends.
  • Dependability and flexibility are essential.
