Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Property Accountant to join our client's team in Memphis, Tennessee. In this role, you will manage financial operations for a portfolio of multifamily properties, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. This position is ideal for professionals with a strong background in accounting and real estate, who are ready to contribute to a dynamic and collaborative environment. Responsibilities: - Prepare and deliver comprehensive financial statement packages for assigned multifamily properties, ensuring accuracy and adherence to quality standards. - Reconcile and analyze balance sheet accounts, preparing supporting schedules and ensuring all information is accurate. - Post journal entries to the general ledger and review periodic reports to identify and correct errors before the accounting period closes. - Review transactions in accounts receivable and accounts payable to confirm proper coding and recording, while resolving discrepancies as needed. - Investigate and explain variances or unusual items in income statements and changes in balance sheets. - Assist in creating additional financial reports requested by clients, ensuring clarity and precision. - Support audits conducted by independent firms by providing necessary documentation and analysis. - Post audit adjustments at the end of the year and ensure all records are updated accordingly. - Provide guidance to property management teams by addressing inquiries related to financial statements and accounting matters. - Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations and manage cash flow for assigned properties. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is required. - At least 2 years of experience with general ledger accounting is essential. - A minimum of 1-4 years of work experience in accounting or a related field is preferred. - Proficiency in property accounting and familiarity with Yardi software is highly desirable. - Strong understanding of accrual accounting principles and month-end close processes. - Demonstrated skill in preparing bank reconciliations and managing cash flow. - Excellent attention to detail and ability to analyze financial data effectively. - Strong communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and external auditors.
