Job Description

RMC is hiring a  Senior Installer to support our customer in Bethesda, MD.  The selected applicant will be expected to install and maintain the RDT&E communications network.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing a small team of installers, ensuring they follow proper procedures, and maintain quality standards; providing training and mentorship when needed.
  • Conducting surveys and assessments of installation sites to determine the scope of work and any special requirements.
  • Coordinating installation schedules, ensuring that timelines align with both the customer's availability and team capacity.
  • Installing Ethernet and fiber optic networks, network components, and network interface devices.
  • Installing DAS wireless equipment; antennas, coaxial, Cat 5/6/7 cable, fiber optic, etc.
  • Testing and troubleshooting various low-volt cables, Cat5, Cat6, coax, and fiber (Fluke, OTDR, Light).
  • Conducting site surveys and creating/updating floor plans.
  • Routing, pulling, and dressing cables.
  • Splicing, terminating, and labeling copper and fiber optic cabling.
  • Inspecting, testing, and troubleshooting cable equipment.

The selected applicant must be able to demonstrate experience with the following:

  • Proficiency in using installation tools and testing equipment, such as cable splicing machines, Fluke testers, and other various devices.

  • Deep understanding of various types of cables (fiber optic, and copper) and installation techniques.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, floorplans, and schematics to determine cable layout and design.

  • Expertise in diagnosing and troubleshooting cable-related issues in both installations and existing systems.

  • Ability to think quickly and come up with solutions when unexpected problems occur during installations (e.g., cabling issues, customer requirements).

  • Ability to strictly follow safety protocols.

Requirements

  • An active  DoD SECRET clearance is required to start. Applicant selected may be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

  • Must possess at least six years of experience installing Ethernet and fiber optic networks, network components, and network interface devices, with at least two years of experience managing a team or acting as a site lead .

  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License for potential operation of low-speed Government furnished equipment (utility cart).

Salary at RMC is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, a candidate's specific combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific requirements. The current salary range for this position will be $80,000 to $110,000 (annually).
